Hey Loves,

If you have been keeping up with my “comeback” (Thanks So MUCH BTW) then you will have seen the HAUL that I posted recently.  In that haul I showed you guys this foundation and as promised I am here to share my thoughts:

Brand: Sephora Collection

Name: Make No Mistake Foundation and Concealer Stick

Color: 13 Walnut

Coverage: Medium to Full

Finish: Matte

Foundation Consistency: Cream

Price: $20

Brushes Used: ELF Blurring Foundation Brush and Beauty Blender

Primer Used: Matte Porefessional

Powder Used: MUF HD Pressed Powder/ Black Opal Setting Powder

My first impression of this foundation was that it was going to be entirely too light. After blending the cream foundation in with all of my life I realized the color was not as “off” as I thought. I also want to state that in the video the foundation looked way lighter than how it looked in the mirror. I have experience with cream sticks as that seems to be the trend right now. I own the black opal foundation sticks so I decided to give this a try.

I loved the coverage and the fact that I did not need concealer or anything. I will say that I used undereye highlight in the photo above but I also wore it with just the foundation/concealer as my undereye. I do not feel like the foundation is long lasting and luckily there is not advertisement for this either. My t-zone defeated this foundation within the first 3-4 hours of wear.

I plan to keep using the stick but I still like the way my Black Opal foundation sticks feel as opposed to this stick. I should also not that the darker colors after Walnut had a lot of red in their foundation so I couldnt wear any of those due to my fear of looking like an oompaaloompa

Have you guys tried this foundation?

I personally really like the Sephora Collection and I am glad they are continuing to come out with affordable products.

Review|| Brown Sugar Box

Brown Sugar Box

Hey Loves

The time has come to try another subscription box and this time I have decided to #supportasista and try the Brown Sugar Box from Izzy & Liv (Click the picture above to be directed to the site to read more about it)

Brown Sugar Box Contents

How the box arrived (minus the paper)

The information that I know so far is that around 15th of every month I should be receiving a box with full size items from different vendors (I am assuming black ownned which is a plus) for $39.95 a month. Yes the price point for me a little steep but I am trying to rationalize that I am doing a test run. Since I have been paying attention to this site their boxes have a waiting list which to me meant that this was something I should check out. Once you get your first box your payment will auto renew for the next box and they leave the option to cancel at any time as well.

I had a little difficulty when it came to the shipping on this box and was not because of anything on the USPS but it had to do with one of the vendors that was supposed to be in this box. The owner of the brown sugar box included a letter explaining what happened and why it happened but she did include a $5 off “i apologize” code. I am not holding that against her as I really liked what was in my box:

Beach Blanket

At first glance of this I definitely assumed it was a giant table cloth of some sort and from that moment I was not really into it. However upon reading the cute little magazine that was included in my box I learned it is actually a circular blanket for the beach. Me personally it has become a throw on my couch that I have in my blanket rotation while I am catching up on my shows.

The part of the box that was missing was actually a book and therefore I am assuming the bookmark was for that HOWEVER I think this bookmark is sooo adorable. It is a flimsy cardboard bookmark though so I recommend lamenting it. (luckily a coworker has her own personal machine so this was super quick for me)

Key Necklace

The next is this 16″ zinc alloy necklace. It fits very snug around my neck (see video). The message behind this necklace is the reason that I am willing to give a chance.

Melanin Sticker

I do not feel like I have to give any time of details on this cute litter sticker other than it is going on the cover of my business bullet journal when it arrives from amazon. (Thinking about adding an entire section to my bullet journal on my blog, thoughts?)

One of my reasons for going with the box was the fact that I would be getting some type of melanin love tshirt in my boxes. (View video to see me try it on) I love this tank even though 2x is too big for me but it makes a cute around the house tee.

Tribal Bag

Last but certainly not least is this cute tribal drawstring bag. As a festival goer this would be perfect AND don’t worry it is not that flimsy mess you get from job fairs either. This bag has a very thick fabric and sturdy straps.

So this month because the July Box was so late you will more than likely also see August box as well. I am loving the variety and how I can use everything that came in this box. I am excited to be #supportasista with this choice.

What subscription boxes to do you use?

Review|| Fem Rose Karrueche x Colourpop Collab

FEM Rose Full Collection

I have not been keeping Colourpop on my radar because they have not been releasing anything that is capturing my attention. However another Karrueche collab and yet again it is actually pretty. The collection came with an eyeshadow palette, face palette and 3 lipsticks.

The lipsticks came with 2 satin lipsticks and 1 glossy lipstick

Fem Rosa Lipstick Swatches

(Top to Bottom) Darling, Mrs., Contessa (Click Photo to go to site)

Darling: Ultra Satin; Deep Plum

Mrs: Ultra Satin; Deepened Coral

Contessa: Ultra Glossy; Warm Gold sprinkled with pink and gold glitter (Sheer Finish)

Also I should note that colourpop made it a point to say that you could mix any combo of these colors and get amazing colors. If you guys want to see the combos let me know and I will swatch them for you.

Fem Rose Face Palette

Now I will say out of all the the parts of the collection, this is the one I did not care for and the only reason I bought it was because I bought the entire collection. This is a fail for me because it was a very generic palette that throws a “bronzer” that is a dusty skintone color for anyone with a brown tint to their skin. Me personally I need for companies to not make face palettes like this unless they are making them for various skintones.

Fem Rose Face Palette SwatchesThe highlighter is named Lassie and it is labeled as a true gold and it is pearlized. As usual I never have problems with gold highlighters because they always look good on my skin. The blush is named Mistress and it is a very PINK highlighter. As you can see from the swatch I would recommend going very light if you have deeper skintones. NOW on to this “bronzer”, Dame is just a dirty skintone color. I will be using this for an eyeshadow because it will be bronzing nothing on my skin.

The entire reason for buying this collection is that I have wanted to try colourpop eyeshadows since they came out but I have been waiting for a palette that I like. I think this is the perfect blend for a softer eyeshadow palette. I would tell you that true to their eyeshadows they are buttery and smooth. I did have to swatch the matte shades a little more than the metallic but I like the color payoff.

Fem Rosa Swatch Names

Thankfully since I am visiting my family I had the liberty of swatching my sister so I included the names of each of the colors so if you decide to buy you can see which color gives you what.

Overall my opinion of the collection is ok. I like the soft rose and mauve them of the collection and these are colors I would actually gravitate towards.

What do you guys think of the collection? Did you buy it?

The Apps I Currently Used to Try To Adult

Hey Loves,

I can definitely say that adulting, sometimes, sucks. To say that I need help is probably an understatement but my assumption is that if I need help and I sorta kinda have control then I might as well share with you guys. This is also to say that I looking for more things that can help me adult and if you guys have any more apps that I do not mention PLEASE comment below and help me:

Every DollarEvery Dollar
I was put on to this app from my friends and it has become my favorite money app. Not only does it allow you to make your budget but it lets you input your actual expenses into specific categories and then tell you how much money you have left within your budget in that category.

If you guys love Target (which who doesn’t) then I am sure you are already on this app. This app has coupons that will technically enable your “why did I spend so much money at target” BUT just like the credit card, at least you saved a little on what you did spend right?

So in the world where you share and break bills when you go out with friends, if you are ever in a predicament where the restuarant (or anything else) won’t break the bill this is where venmo is awesome. Once linked to your card you can transfer money to your friend immediately with no fee and no drama. It helps with taxis and everything else. My friends and I used this and since it is small amounts it does not require a fee to transfer it to my bank.

I should start by saying I have really gotten a hold on my starbucks addiction. Now it is a weekend treat BUT for those of us who feel like starbucks in like breakfast I suggest using this app with Everydollar. Set yourself a starbucks budget and then transfer that monthly budget to your digital starbucks card. That way you see how much you have left and it helps (I would hope) for you to ration your starbucks and start brewing at home.

End of 2016 and 2017 thus far has been an absolute CRAP SHOW. I personally do not have the time for traditional ideas for therapy and this is why I stand for talkspace. It has really been helping me get my life together. I enjoy the fact that I do not have to set an appointment and I like the fact that I have access to my therapist 24/7. There are different packages but SAVE30 is a code if you are serious.

GEICOGeico (Auto Insurance)
In a world where it has been made clear that following the rules involving traffic stops can get you skilled as a black person (RIP PHILANDO CASTILLE) I try to make sure I have all my documents and stuff in my glove compartment. They are actually stapled together so there is no confusion. However I also keep my insurance card readily available on my phone and Geico has made that possible for me. In Texas they want to see your name on the insurance card front and center with no complication. Protect yourself (I will save this for my next Soap Box Rant)

Traveling is actually a hobby for me. I use a lot of websites when I shop for flights but hopper is the app I use on my phone. It helps me track flights for various trips all at the same time and updates me if there is a random price drop. I can go on about this in a separate post if you guys want.

As I stated I am a travel junkie professionally and personally and for that I have points with everyone. I am apart of every rewards program (Marriott, Hilton, United, Southwest) and this is beneficial also in that you can check in faster through the app. The bonus for the hotel app is that you can check in and text the front desk through the app to schedule airport pick ups and everything.

Holy BibleHoly Bible
This is apart of my morning routine and luckily it gives me plans to follow including 365 day plans. I feel like it is pretty self explanatory. It gives devotionals and scriptures.

verizonMobile Device App
Again another app that I use to pay bills and just keep track of things. BEFORE I got unlimited data (PRAISE GOD) I also used the app to track my data to make sure I could avoid overages. But again when I sit down to pay bills I also use apps and just check it off my calender. (One day I will have a write up about how I use my planner and stuff)

These are my top 10 “adulting” apps. What are the apps you use to function?

June 2016 Ipsy Bag + Thoughts About Ipsy

June Ipsy Bag Final Thought

Hey Loves,

My year of Ipsy has come to an end and needless to say it has been a little lackluster for me. I admit in the beginning of my 1 year subscription I was extremely excited to get my bag and I was liking what I was getting. However as the year progress I grew extremely bored with the color selection I was given as well as the products. When I did the survey I said that I was a makeup lover who had no problem trying new things plus on the items I would like to receive I clicked on everything except fragrance.

I have so many different waterproof eyeliners that I feel like it was a cop out because they didn’t have anything for my dark skin tone. Plus every month I would see the things available for the bags and yet I kept getting waterproof eyeliner and primers. Plus I feel like because I love NYX I made sure to rate it low so that I would not keep getting it in my bag. I did this because all the NYX products that I got were old and I already owned them. However this did not stop NYX from being in my bags. I believe the super popular brands should not be the most in the Ipsy bag.

Also I received a couple (4) nail polishes and every one of them were ugly colors for my skintone. They were ashy colors or really bright colors. I would have been liked to be given options. I also did not like that the only lip colors I was given was red and mauves that were too ashy for any black woman to wear without having to finesse it. ( I am tired of always having to finesse)

I can say that I was given 46 brands throughout the year and that was great because I was introduced to 33 of these brands through Ipsy. I am actually very obsessed with some of them like Luxie Beauty and Delectable hand creams.

So my final thought is that I did not continue another year with Ipsy. I want a subscription that caters to my hair and my skin and not just keep me at red and mauve.

Have you tried Ipsy?
