I have not done this in a very long time and I feel that it is only right to start on something that has become a big thing in my life and that is trying to get my money right. By that statement I mean that I want a substantial savings account, start investing and making sure my retirement plan with my paycheck is updated accordingly.
We are a generation of living in the now and we do not plan for the future because we want to live for today AND I still believe there is nothing better than living how you want to. However we should probably address the fact that there will come a time when you need money unexpectedly and maybe you want to retire or even venture out into your own thing eventually. For this you will need cash…
I am by no means an expert in fact I actually write my budget in my calendar planner on a paycheck by paycheck basis so that I can force myself to be accountable with my money. Since starting this blog I have had to invest in some things that did require me to save and to practice some kind of discipline. So here are 5 tips that I am currently either already using or getting ready to use to better my money game:
- Write it out: Plan your bills ahead of time so you know which ones are automatic transfers, needs a check, etc. In general this gives you a better understanding of how much spending and savings you can afford.
- Treat your savings account like a bill: For me when I lay out my bills I include savings because I set a goal of how much I want to save each month. So when I go online to pay a credit card or a utility bill, I also transfer some money to my savings account.
- Have separate accounts: I can honestly say having my savings account separate from the account my paycheck actually drops into has helped me a lot. I pretty much do not see my savings account unless I am actively making sure the transfer went through.
- Consult an accountant or a broker: There is no reason you cannot learn about money and investing from people who are actually trained in just that. Just do your research on your own as well. I never suggest taking anyone’s word for face value. These could also be ways for you to grow your money and in fact hire someone. (I am working to this point)
- Strive to pay off big bills so you can be more liberal with your budget so if that means you have to stay home a couple months then do it. It will be completely worth it.
I will just state that due to the weather over the weekend I lost power and so I miss the time to record a video to accompany this video however I will post the video for this video on Monday. If you remember I had so much fun when I reviewed the Masquerade Palette and had mixed emotions about further spending coins with Juvia’s Place due to the massive accusations that were being made about that company. As a black owned company I wanted to see her supporting black influencers and because of the amazing makeup community I am apart of I have bitten the bullet and bought this palette.
Here are the stats:
Where to buy: Juvia’s Online Shop
How Much: $28
12 Colors (4 Matte)
Cruelty Free BUT NOT VEGAN
As usual the palettes from Juvia’s Place has some of the best pigmentation when it comes to all shades and shimmers. They are consistently reached for in my collection and I really cannot say anything bad about the color selection. I can say I am waiting for a palette of mattes. I feel like my life would be made 100%. I do love how all the shades are very flattering. (My video will determine if Chad is a true black or not) I will also say because I waited for the relaunch of the palette, the shipping was a week and it was a much easier process. I did not have to interact with costumer service so I cannot comment.
Unlike the Masquerade Palette and the Nubian 2 palette this palette is really small. It can actually fit in the palm of my hand and it is only $4 cheaper than the masquerade palette for maybe half the product. Great for travel purposes but I feel like the palette price difference should have been more since I expect more from their palette. Or give the travel option like the masquerade palette. To some who matter this palette is not vegan.
As usual you guys already know I am looking at the ingredients but due to my “Sulfates” series I am working on I will have to tackle Eyeshadow ingredients on a later date.
Thanks For Checking Out my Blog!
What is it?
Carrageenan (kar-uh-gee-nuh n) is a gelatinous polysaccharide (a large complex carb) that is extracted from red seaweed. This is either done by boiling the seaweed or treating it with a hot alkali. it is a large, highly flexible molecule which curls to form helical structures. This strong structures are also apart of the reason that this substance is a gel at room temperatures. It is FDA approved as a common food addictive and is approved to be used in certain beauty products as well.
What does it do?
Carrageenan is normally used in products because of how it acts when under stress. Under stress products with carrageenan thin themselves out and then retain their original structure once the stress is released. This makes it perfect for substances with pumps. It is used as a thickener and an emulsifier and even in foods it is used to improve the texture. Different sub straits of carrageenan (potassium or sodium carrageenan) can be used as binders, stabilizers or film formers. It is also known to function are a fragrance ingredient, hair conditioning agent and even for masking. There is actually early research suggesting the topical application may inhibit certain genital STDs such as HPV.
What products is it in?
Facial moisturizer, toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner, shaving cream, foundation, sunscreen, cleanser
I should start by saying that most of the side effects I found are related to Carrageenan in food and most of the studies I found as also of the same conditions. Another note I want to make is that is refers to degraded carrageenan which is completely different from the carrageenan that is allowed in our beauty products. Degraded carrageenan is created by the seaweed (Eucheumaspinosum) by partial hydrolysis using dilute Hydrochloric acid.
There have been some animal test that link in taking carrageenan in your food has a link to intestinal cancer. In fact the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified degraded carrageenan to be carcinogenic to humans and should not be consumed.

While on the road for business I always have an issue with what to pack and how much to pack and what look I am going for. For the most part this proves easy as my profession doesn’t allow me to drop below business casual but my main thought is about the makeup I should bring.

What do You carry in Your bag? Do you wear makeup at work?
Since starting my “What are you wearing?” Series on my youtube channel (Click Here for the Vitamin C Episode) I have really gotten back into skincare and so I wanted to share with you guys the few mask I have bought over and over during these winter months. For those who do not know my skin is combination oily and though I feel for some of the hype mask ( I will be doing a trash mask video) these are the ones I like:
Freeman’s Charcoal & Black Sugar Mud Mask (Ulta): I originally bought this mask from the $2.50 section mask at walmart until I noticed the full size in ulta for about $4.99. I have tried a couple charcoal mask and this has proven to be the one that actually does some kind of change for my face. This mask is to smooth, purify and moisturize and for me it just makes me face look great when I wash it off plus it not a harsh mask that burns or anything. The packet version stays in my travel bag.
Shea Moisture African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Mask (Walmart): Though this says one use I usually get about 2 out of each bag. This mask has Tamarind Extract and Tea Tree Oil. If you have not heard of how great Tea Tree Oil you may have been living under a rock. It has great antibacterial properties and usually the smell is tolerable. I use this mask for the days where my face just looks dull and “clogged” (Yes I know technically that is not possible but I am sure you know the day I am talking about). This is a mask that also stays in my travel bag.
Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Mud Mask (Walmart): This mask goes with me everywhere that I travel because this mask gives my face life back. Traveling all day is exhausting and the first place I tend to notice is in my face. The second thing I do when I get to my hotel room is put this mask on and just lay down for a second. It is a great hydrating mask and it specifically for dry skin and viola after the dehydration of a plane ride is the perfect combination.
Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay (Sephora): This is the most expensive mask in my arsenal but this is considered one of my holy grail mask. I use this mask all year round it is always a favorite and I have found nothing that gives my face that amazing glow the way this mask does when I wash it off. I know for some people their skin does not react well with this mask BUT since it is from sephora you can get a sample of it and try it out first. It has little beads in it as well so when you wash it off it also exfoliates and leaves a clean slate for toner. I use this mask once a week and I am never disappointed.
Sephora Eye Mask in Rose/Cucumber/Green Tea: (Sephora) These $5 eye masks are great. The rose is ultra moisturizing and brightening which great for my undereye. The best part about these mask is that you should put them in the fridge. It has a depuffing effect because of the cool. It is awesome. I usually have 2 of these in my carry on bag because I have actually used this on a flight once when it was delayed and I was frustrated.
Yes to Argan Oil Mud Mask (Walmart): Another single use bag that I can get 2 uses out of. This mask is another conditioning mask. I realize I use a lot of conditioning mask rather than stripping mask. After the harsher mask, this is another relaxing mask.
What are your favorite mask for winter?
